Damayanti

Damayanti is the daughter of Bhimsen, who rules Birdava. Damayanti fell in love with Nal and planned on getting married. On his way to marry her, Nal ran into the gods Indra, Agni, Yom, and Baruna, who told Nal they are also on their way to try to marry her. This left Nal feeling inferior and discouraged. Nal tells Damayanti the news while he is in disguise, but she rejects the god's loves and claims her heart belongs to Nal. The gods still went to the wedding, disguised as other versions of Nal, but Damayanti still chose the one she loved. This made the gods feel insulted. Nal lost everything by gambling against his brother Pushkar. Damayanti was upset, but followed her husband in to exile. Then, Nal was hypnotized by a voice that told him to leave Damayanti. When Damayanti is searching Nal, she has an encounter with a snake, but was able to get away. Damayanti eventually returns to her parents. The spell casted on Nal finally wore off and he realized he left Damayanti in the forest. Nal then disguises himself as a driver. When Damayanti hears there is a new driver, she assumes Nal is the new driver and decides she wants to remarry. One of Damayanti's friends noticed the driver was Nal and told Damayanti the great news. Nal and Damayanti are able to be reunited and Nal wins back his kingdom by gambling with his brother again.
