Part C
Karna's Quest: Karna was a boy who was found floating in a basket in a river. He went to go to find Drona to be taught to fight, but was denied because he wasn't a kshatriya. Even though he was, he didn't want to dishonor his family by telling Drona he was. He found a different guru who was willing to teach him.
The Kshatriya: Karna was taught by Parashuram, he told him he wasn't a Kshatriya, but a Brahmin. He become one of the Parashuram's best students. Parashuram eventually found out Karna was a Kshatriya, and put a curse on him that the day Karna needed his skills the most, he would forget them.
Karna Becomes King: A tournament was organized so the cousins could display the skills they were taught. Karna appeared during this tournament to challenge Arjuna. Karna was refused the title of victor because he wasn't invited to the tournament. The Pandavas challenged Karna to a battle to prove their strength. Karna would have to be of royal blood for them to fight, so Karna told them his backstory. Duryodhana stepped in to defend Karna. To make him worthy, Duryodhana made him the King of Anga.
Drupada Humiliates Drona: Drona's fellow student was Drupad, who he became very good friends with. Drupad told Drona he would give him half his kingdom when he became king. When Drona was married, he lived a life of poverty and wished for wealth. He remembered the promise from Drupad, but Drupad denied the promise. Drona vowed to punish the king for humiliating him.
Wax Palace Conspiracy: Duryodhana was jealous of the strength of the Pandavas. Yudhishthir was going to become the next king of Hustinapur. This made Duryodhana more jealous, so he made a plan with Karna and Shakuni to get rid of them. They told the Pandavas of a great festival they should go to. Duryodhana sent Purochan to build a palace of dry material that would be easily flammable. Duryodhana wanted to set the palace on fire once the Pandavas fell asleep. The plan didn't remain hidden though.
Pandavas Escape: Vidura warned Pandavas of the threat. Once the Pandavas moved into the palace, they noticed the palace was made of combustible material and was a trap to kill them. Vidura sent a miner to dig out a tunnel under the palace with an exit into the forest. Before they left, Bheem set fire to the palace and they escaped into the forest. The Kauravas assumed the Pandavas had died in the fire.
Bhima's Day: The Pandavas took refuge in the forest. Bhim knew they needed to find a safe place to avoid danger. Bhim carried Kunti the whole family on his body with his strength. When they reached the river, a boat man helped them cross the river. Bhim took care of his family by fetching water and watching over them at night.
Bhima Kills Bakasura: The Pandavas continued to travel until they settled in the city of Ekachakra where they disguised themselves as Brahmins. They begged for food in the streets to sustain themselves Kunti learned about Bakaasur who would eat dwellers in the city. To prevent this, he eats the food in the city. No man was successful in killing Bakasaar, but Kunti assures the man that Bhim was strong enough to defeat him. Bhim broke every single bone in his body and defeated him. The city rejoiced at Bhim's victory.
The Birth of Draupadi: Drupad realized he would be defeated by Drona and the Pandavas. To prepare for the attack, he organized a Yagya so he could have a son to defeat Drona. Not only did a son emerge from the flames, but so did a daughter. The son was named Dhrishtadyumna and the daughter was Draupadi. It was predicted that she would be the cause of the destruction of many kshatriyas. Many men came for her swayamvar.
